A Weekly Meditation of Pastor Chang (March 28, 2010)

         <Futurology, Soothsaying, Fortunetelling, and Biblical Prophecy> (14) 

Recently two scientific reports told us at least two very serious issues that will affect the entire earth ecology: earthquakes and the quick death rate of honeybees. It was because of the constant earthquakes that sakes the axle of the earth to be tilted very slightly. Yet, it will directly affect the changes of weather to be more instable. Furthermore, farmers and scientists discover that the sudden death rate of honeybees rise up very quickly in California and other farm states. In some areas even ¼ of sudden death rate. That will cause trouble for the ecological unbalance, because many fruits from apples to zucchini depend on the honeybees’ work for pollination. But what are the causes for the honeybees to die so rapidly? Two major reasons: bad weather and insecticide.  

From the ecological unbalance and the earthquakes, one may get a kind of gut feeling: the second coming of Christ – the end of time is getting closer to us now! I think so too. Furthermore, if we take a look of the human situation: It is getting worse and worse in terms of immorality, more filthy and sinful deeds are increasing, like the twin cities -- Sodom and Gomorrah before their doom. Therefore, we need to prepare for ourselves well when the end of world suddenly comes.  

Allow me now as a student of the Bible to make a biblical prophetic expectation to China: I pray and hope that in the coming 10 years China will grow to become a country of God. It means: I pray that at least 25% or more Christian population will be found in China.  

If China wants to be a great nation in the sight of God to the entire world, China needs to be reformed. It is not a kind of superficial reformation. Even the economical affluence, political change, great educational system renewal, and great traffic system improvement are not really reformed yet. The real reformation will take place when human hearts are changed from inside out toward truth, beauty, and goodness. That means, when human hearts are humble enough to recognize the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer is the Triune God, then, the real reformation will happen.  

In order to achieve the goal of real reformation (not revolution) my suggestion to the governing authority in China is: Give the religious freedom to people. I believe that if that is the case, China will be different. I also believe that God knows how to make Him known in Chinese soil. China now needs the truth.  

Chinese Christians particularly need to pray for the government and its agencies. The more prayers the more blessings will occur. May the Holy Spirit work so powerfully in the entire land of China! Let Christians do their best parts: be bold to share the gospel and never be ashamed of recognizing the name of Jesus Christ, so that our Lord Jesus Christ will move into every aspect of social and spiritual dimensions to transform and sanctify the nation; and hopefully the biblical truth will be practically actualized. When China is more Christianized, more blessings will be given to China and the entire world.

Let me take South Korea and Singapore as two examples in Asia. Both South Korea and Singapore have more than 25% of Christian population; these two nations are differently from the rest of Asian countries. North Korea so far is still very poor, lack of freedom, no human dignity, and people are deeply deprived because it is totally controlled by a tyranny Communist regime. But on the contrary, South Korea which is prosperous, open, and democratic, it is because of strong Christian influence. Singapore is a tinny city country which has 70% of Chinese population, yet, they are much better than Taiwan. And the only reason is because of 25% of Christian population which strongly influence the country.  

“Faith” is the essence of “spiritual life” which will strongly impact culture, human mind, value system, economic system, educational system, and even the fate of a nation. Anyone or nation chooses wrong faith will cause trouble and even damnation. I am a pastor and I believe that Jesus Christ is the only hope for the future of China and the future of human beings. May the Lord have mercy on us!
